Big Brother Contestants Who Worked In The Construction Industry

These familiar faces had a career on site before stepping into the Big Brother house.

The Big Brother UK live final is set to air on Thursday the 5th of November, 2026. It has been a series full of drama and controversy, and fans already have an idea as to who may be leaving as the show’s winner this time around.

In the past, small screen regulars like Allison Hammond and Josie Gibson found fame on the show after starting their careers in very different fields. A long list of tradies have also entered the Big Brother house in prior series, and some of them found success in their own right.

Craig Phillips

Craig Phillips appeared on the very first season of Big Brother back in 2001 and left such an impression that he ended up winning the whole show. While he might have the honour of being the inaugural champion, he hasn’t allowed that fame to move him away from his passions.

Before the show, he was a builder and bricklayer who ran his own construction company. Once he won the show, he moved into DIY and property development programming, putting his skills and knowledge to good use.

Sam Chaloner

Back on the 18th UK series of Big Brother in 2017, Sam Chaloner entered the Big Brother house as a second-chance housemate. He ended up leaving the show on day 47, finishing in 11th place.

Before the series, though, Sam had a spot in the construction industry as a self-employed labourer and scaffolder. It seems that life wasn’t for him, though, as he has now fully transitioned into a social media influencer.

Vinnie Jones

In 2010, on the 7th series of Celebrity Big Brother, Vinnie Jones finished in third place. The former footballer has had an extensive on-screen career and has featured in classics like Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

But in Jones’ early life, he was a bricklayer and labourer. He might have returned to the trade in some of his recent reality show appearances, but it seems his first love will always be football.
