The Traitors Construction Secret Producers Don’t Want You To Know

The Celebrity Traitors has already proven to be a massive success story for the BBC, with Series 2 of the show breaking new viewing records. We’ve already discussed the gorgeous Ardross Castle where the series is filmed, but we haven’t looked at another major set of builds. 

Throughout the show, some truly impressive structures are created for the Faithful and the Traitors to complete challenges across. While these sequences could have an impact on what is discussed around the roundtable, they are largely designed to add money to the prize pot. 

But there’s a problem. These critical constructions have already been seen somewhere else!

The US Traitors Did It First 

It’s pretty well known at this stage that to save money, The Traitors use the same challenges across multiple series. So, when an impressive structure has been built for the UK or Celebrity iteration of the show, the chances are that you’ll see it elsewhere. 

The issue is that US Traitors is airing before Celebrity Traitors. That means that audiences could get a preview of what’s set to happen in the UK show by checking out the recent version across the pond. Usually, the schedule isn’t an issue, with US Traitors airing after Celebrity Traitors. However, fans are already spotting the links between the two series as release patterns change. 

Key twists in the show, such as the idea that the Traitors must recruit a player and kill another after the Faithful plead for their lives face-to-face, have been seen across both series. And that’s not the only connection that has been found. 

The Pirate Ship Challenge 

The Celebrity Traitors construction crew went to great lengths to produce an impressive sunken pirate ship, with hidden treasure and secret clues. The ship was blown up in the grand finale of the task, with the celebrities successfully retrieving all the cash available. 

It was a brilliant opening for Celebrity Traitors, but one that isn’t unique. That same pirate ship build can be found in an early challenge in US Traitors too! The graveyard scene of Episode 2, where the celebrities would be buried alive, was also copied in US Traitors, with the construction team having already completed work on this set piece. 

So if you really wanted to get a sense of the challenges ahead, you could spoil it all by checking out the builds seen across the American version of the show. Just don’t tell the producers!
