The 2026 London Marathon takes place tomorrow and so there is still time to check out who is taking part.
Every year, over 50,000 people take part in the London Marathon, one of the most important charity and sporting events on the calendar. Ahead of secret plans to make the event a super-sized race in 2027, this year’s marathon is still set to go big with more than 59,000 runners expected to take part.
With construction firms already coming together to put the necessary infrastructure in place to host the event, Londoners will have noticed a few changes in the last couple of days. While the construction that takes place around the event is interesting enough, what we really want to focus on are some of those industry professionals taking part in the 2026 London Marathon.
We’ve handpicked a few organisations and charities we want to highlight ahead of the big day.
Charity - The Construction Youth Trust

A crucial charity with a slot at this year’s event, the CYT works towards bringing more social mobility into the industry. The trust works with young people from low-income backgrounds to support them into the world of work, removing the barriers that may have stopped them from succeeding in the construction field.
Participant - Team Glencar
Team Glencar will also be represented in the London Marathon. The organisation might be known for specialising in pharmaceutical and data centre construction, among other logistical projects, but it will also be showing its charitable side by raising money for Macmillan, Lighthouse and the NSPCC. A big shoutout goes to Ben Buchanan, Ricky Levenston and Tom Tutty on the team.
Charity - Lighthouse Construction Industry

We’ve already had a mention of Lighthouse, but it’s vital to dive deeper into this fantastic group. Runners will be raising money for the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity this weekend, an organisation which provides mental health, financial and physical support to those in the construction industry.
Participant - DSSL Group & Carpenter Oak
A big shout-out also has to go to DSSL engineer James, who will be competing on behalf of Oxfam. Also taking part is Carpenter Oak frame designer Connor, who will be raising money for the National Trust.
Charity - Building Heroes

Building Heroes has its own charity spot at the London Marathon, with runners signing up to fly the flag for an organisation that helps veterans, service leavers, and military families as they transition into new careers in the construction industry.
Good luck to everyone taking part in the London Marathon and all those from construction and labourer backgrounds who are raising funds for such good causes.
