The artist wasn’t very protective of this limited-edition item.
Dizzee Rascal shot to the top of the charts with classics like ‘Bonkers,’ ‘Space,’ ‘Holiday,’ and ‘Dance Wiv Me.’ While the rapper has taken a step back from music, he is still working on his ninth studio album, which is set to be released in September 2026.
While a big return might be on the cards for Dizzee Rascal in the near future, we’re looking back at the artist’s past. In a recent interview with talkSPORT, Dizzee revealed that he once gave a lavish gift to his plumber!
Tongue N Cheek
For those who don’t know, back in the late 2000s, Dizzee Rascal partnered with Nike on a range of limited-edition trainers. The Nike Air Max 90 "Tongue N Cheek" sneakers were designed alongside Ben Drury and were released to commemorate the launch of the ‘Tongue N Cheek’ album, which featured songs like the aforementioned ‘Holiday’ and ‘Dance Wiv Me.’
However, back then, Dizzee didn’t fully realise the value of those trainers. Nowadays they are collector’s items and have been auctioned for up to £8,000. But, since Dizzee had plenty of extra stock lying around, he was more than happy to give his plumber a pair for doing such a good job. While Dizzee now admits he should have taken more care of the sneakers, at least a hard-working tradie went home with a mini fortune!
