Defending and two-time champion Charlie Collison laid 709 bricks in an hour to secure second place
US bricklayer Cole Stamper was crowned the UK’s fastest bricklayer at Super Trowel last week.
The American laid a massive 719 bricks in the final to take home the top award, beating two-time champion Charlie Collison into second place, who laid 709 bricks.
At the end of the event, Collison, who was “gutted” said he wouldn’t compete in next year’s event.
Speaking after his win, Stamper said he was thrilled to win the competition. He also elaborated on his challenges, such as the size of the bricks. “The bricks certainly felt bigger [compared to the US bricks], but it’s bricklaying, and that’s the one thing I know how to do.”
Tom Humphrey took third place with a score of 675 bricks, while Ash Mahoney had a brick count of 673. He was also awarded a prize for the neatest wall.
Super Trowel, the UK's largest bricklaying competition, was held on 13 and 14 August at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire.
