Lawton Tubes donates more than £1,000 worth of copper tubes to the homeless shelter project
A team of installers that provide free plumbing and heating for worthy causes are set to work on a new project for the homeless in Grimsby, and has lauded a copper distributor’s crucial role in making it happen.
Charity Warriors of Warmth works nationwide on various projects, from installing central heating in food banks to installing new radiators in homeless shelters. It relies on donations of materials from suppliers to carry out the work for free.
Its latest project involves installing a heat pump, gas boiler and radiators at a disused three-storey bank in Grimsby so it can be converted into a homeless shelter for the Christian Action Resource Enterprise (CARE), which provides help with housing, essentials, and one-to-one support in the town.
Coventry-based Lawton Tubes, a copper tubes and fittings supplier that has worked with Warriors of Warmth on many projects, will donate more than £1,000 of copper tubes to the work.
Alongside the upcoming homeless shelter in Grimsby, Warriors of Warmth have supported projects all over the country, including food banks in Stratford-upon-Avon and Windsor, a charitable city farm in Nottingham, and a Scouts’ hall in Doncaster.
Founder of Warriors of Warmth, Jonathon Hallam, secured copper for these projects after contacting Robert Lawton, a Director at Lawton Tubes, for their support.
Jonathon said, “Having reliable suppliers who are happy to donate their products is such an important part of completing a project successfully.
“We partnered with Lawton Tubes after many traders in our network recommended them when we needed a copper supplier.
“It didn’t take long after I reached out to secure a partnership between us. Copper is a vital and sometimes expensive resource for installation projects, so to have Lawton on board was fantastic.
“It’s fair to say that without the generosity of Robert Lawton and the team, these projects would not have happened. We’re so grateful to them.”
