Baxi launches MCS umbrella service to slash admin for installers

The scheme makes the MCS journey for installers straightforward by handling design, compliance, and paperwork

The heating systems manufacturer has introduced a Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) umbrella service for air source heat pump (ASHP) installers.

The scheme makes the MCS journey for installers straightforward by handling design, compliance, and paperwork, so installers can focus on delivering efficient, low-carbon heating.

The scheme offers nationwide on-site support from Baxi’s network of experienced ASHP engineers, helping installers stay compliant, reduce complexity, and save time.

Installers who take advantage of the scheme can save approximately eight hours of admin time per ASHP installation.

When a customer is interested in an ASHP, installers can contact Baxi, which will provide an estimate of the heat pump size needed to deliver comfort to the homeowner, enabling the installer to build their quote.

Once the homeowner is ready to proceed, Baxi’s engineers carry out an in-person site survey, resulting in a comprehensive heat loss report. This includes everything from radiator sizes to pipework calculations, so that the installer can provide a final project proposal for the customer.

Baxi will advise on the necessary kit and provide a complete parts list for installers to source from their preferred merchant. If accepted, Baxi administers the MCS paperwork on the installer’s behalf, freeing them to move forward with the installation work.

As part of the service, Baxi checks the property’s eligibility for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) and handles the compliance and MCS paperwork required to access the grant funding.

The BUS provides grants of up to £7,500 for qualifying air-source and ground-source heat pump installations in England and Wales.
