Van drives expect higher fuel prices and worse traffic, yet everyone still loves driving, rogue traders are using AI and 20 year old bricklayer Charlie Manby goes back to site
Van drivers already have a pessimistic outlook on 2026, with many expecting a hike in fuel prices and worse behaviour from fellow drivers.
In a survey from Startline Motor Finance, nearly half of respondents predicted fuel prices would rise, while 38% thought it likely that the behaviour of other drivers would deteriorate.
A similar percentage forecasted more traffic congestion.
Despite the downbeat outlook, a massive 94% said they still valued having a motor vehicle.

Rogue tradespeople are increasingly using AI to win business — that’s according to Richard Harpin.
Writing in the Telegraph, the founder of facilities management giant HomeServe, and chairman of Checkatrade claimed that AI web searches do not discern between trustworthy sources and rogue traders are being presented as safe.
Harpin, also called on the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to enforce the guidelines it published last year to introduce proper vetting, responsible marketing and verified reviews on trader recommendation platforms.

Charlie Manby, the 20-year-old bricklayer who reached the last 16 of the World Darts Championship, was back on site in Huddersfield this week.
Champagne Charlie earned £60,000 for his performance at Ally Pally, where he was knocked out by eventual finalist Gian van Veen.
Manby will now go to Q School where he aims to win a two year spot on the professional darts tour.
