AUDIO NEWS: Sewerage capacity blocks housing projects and employee and 1$ million tool theft in US

30,000 homes held up by sewerage capacity issues, US employee charged with stealing 1$ million worth of tools and plasterer looks for volunteer tradespeople

Construction of nearly 30,000 homes is being delayed due to concerns over wastewater capacity.

A report by the Home Builders Federation published this week estimates that developers have paid £2.3 billion to water companies since 2020 to support infrastructure improvements.

However, planning permission is still being withheld over “sewerage capacity” issues.

HBF claims the current situation is creating delays across the housing sector, particularly for smaller builders and developers.

A US employee of Milwaukee Tool has been charged with stealing over $1 million of its products.

Michael Yang faces 14 charges of felony or misdemeanour theft after he repeatedly created and deleted fraudulent orders of different values.

Milwaukee only became aware of the theft after a courier company got in touch to question the delivery of 9,000 lb of product to a residential address.

If convicted the 31-year-old could get 98 years in jail.

A Kent-based plasterer is calling for volunteer tradespeople to complete an extension, so a family can bring their 17-year-old daughter home from hospital.

Rubie Boyton has been in hospital for the last 15 months after she suffered brain damage.

Upon hearing Rubie’s story, Daniel Boalch felt he could do more than just offer to plaster the extension.

Boalch said: “When a community comes together… we can achieve incredible things and help get Rubie home where she belongs.”
