Over 6,000 cases of tool theft reported in West Yorkshire, former Milwaukee gets five years for stealing $1 million worth of tools, and Mark McKenna Jr switches from acting to plumbing
Over 6,000 cases of tool theft were recorded in West Yorkshire between 2024 and 2026 — that’s according to research by Travis Perkins.
Leeds accounted for most cases in the county, with over 2,500 incidents, followed by Bradford.
Nearly 5,000 cases were closed without a suspect being identified.
The figures highlighted the continuing need for tradespeople to take practical steps to protect their tools, such as marking and registering equipment, maintaining an up-to-date inventory, and moving kit to a secure location overnight.

A former Milwaukee employee in the United States was sentenced to five years in jail after stealing over $1 million worth of tools.
Mathew Yang allegedly placed orders in the company’s system, which were then fulfilled and shipped without payment.
The scheme was only discovered when a freight forwarding company phoned Milwaukee to check on the delivery of a huge order to an apartment complex.

And finally, actor Mark McKenna Jr, who appeared in popular Irish crime drama Kin with Charlie Cox and Ciaran Hinds, has taken up work as a plumber.
McKenna Jr switched careers after the second series finished and his acting gigs dried up.
The young actor said he was proud to be a plumber.
