The government's tool theft bill won't help says Coventry supplier, FMB builder issues skin cancer warning and DIY SOS needs tradespeople for Southampton project
A Coventry tool supplier believes new tool theft legislation ‘will make no difference whatsoever’.
Mark Taylor, business development manager with ECA Toolfast, told his local newspaper that the issue was so prevalent that tougher measures like prison sentences were needed, but that with “the way things are now, that might not deter them either”.
Last week, Labour MP Amanda Martin announced the government’s Sentencing Bill that promises to deliver tougher punishments for those convicted of tool theft.
If passed into law, courts would have to consider the full economic and emotional impact of the crime during sentencing.
