Nearly half of tradespeople still sign write their vans despite the tool theft risk, tender prices on housing projects set to increase by 3.5% and electricians help out local war museum
Nearly half of tradespeople are still opting to sign-write their vans, despite concerns it makes them targets for tool thieves — that’s according to Tempcover.
In the poll of 500 tradies, half felt the commercial benefits of branding the side of a van outweighed the possible risks.
However, a quarter of respondents admitted they had started using smaller decals on their vehicles.
Of those with branded vans, 54% said they had either experienced tool theft and felt it was linked to their vehicle signage.

Tender prices are expected to jump by 3.5% on housing projects this year, claims data from Turner & Townsend.
The report also said that tender prices on infrastructure projects would also rise by 5%, throwing doubt on the viability of some schemes.
The professional services firm warned that government pressure to ramp the speed of infrastructure projects risked accelerating tender price inflation.
Stephanie Marshall, UK managing director of real estate cost management at Turner and Townsend said, it was “no surprise” that clients remained nervous about committing to projects.

Two electricians have volunteered to help re-wire their local museum.
Matt Cottril of MJ Electrical and Matt Kirwan of Everglow Electrical responded to a plea from Wellesbourne Wartime Museum for help with essential electrical work.
After hearing about their work, a local cafe offered the two tradesmen free breakfast.
