Heat pump owners report higher levels of satisfaction than gas boiler users, think tank hatches plan to solve housing crisis, and builder restores pub that hosted his stag do
Households with heat pumps reported higher levels of comfort and satisfaction than those with gas boilers, in the recent cold snap.
In the survey of 1,800 homes by Octopus Energy, 89% of heat pump customers said they were satisfied with their heating system.
Two thirds of heat pump users also said they were satisfied with the running costs, compared to just 43% of gas boiler owners.
Rebecca Dibb-Simkin, chief product officer at Octopus Energy said heat pump customers were “just as warm as those with gas boilers” and happier with the overall experience.

The government needs to establish a cross-department housing delivery unit to solve the housing crisis — that’s according to the Radix Big Tent Housing Commission.
The think tank believes that such a unit would push government departments to work more effectively across the housing ecosystem and drive engagement with key stakeholders, such as the Bank of England and financial regulators.

A nostalgic builder has brought the pub where he had his stag do, 30 years ago.
Self-employed builder Steve Kind and wife Jo bought the grade II listed, 17th century coaching inn in Carmarthenshire when it came on the market seven years ago.
The pair have since transformed it from a 1990s-era pub into something “more appropriate” for the age of the building and operate it as a rental property.
