AUDIO NEWS: Construction sector has the most fatalities and tradespeople lose 8 hours a week to admin

Construction industry remains the deadliest in the UK, tradespeople lose 8 hours a week to admin tasks and TradePod celebrates first anniversary

The construction sector remains the deadliest in the UK.

Over the last 10 years, fatalities have ranged from 35 to 50 a year, prompting concerns about a lack of progress in making construction safer.

Other sectors, such as agriculture and manufacturing have all reduced deadly accidents during the same period, claims Astutis.

Falls from height remain the biggest cause of fatal onsite incidents.

The research also identified a 75% increase in the number of accidents involving electrics.

Tradespeople are losing up to eight hours a week to admin work they could automate — that’s according to Hey BRB.

The research by the AI consultancy, estimated that businesses are losing between £17-and-£25,000-a-year, in billable hours due to their mountain of paperwork.

Despite this most small building firms spend less than £50 a month on business software to automate tasks.

The survey found that invoicing, and chasing payment were the two most time-consuming admin tasks.

A shared workspace designed for trade businesses is celebrating its first anniversary.

TradePod, based in Ringwood, offers local plumbers, carpenters, and electricians space to meet clients, and run their businesses.

It also offers a secure tool lock up, workshop facilities and business admin services.
