Construction output continued to fall in July, but at the slowest rate since March.
The Construction Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) revealed reduced rates of contraction across all sub-sections, boosting business activity expectations for the rest of the year.
Nearly 40% of firms forecast their business would expand, signalling the strongest degree of optimism since February.
However, the BCIS issued a note of caution, saying the figures showed a downturn losing pace, not a recovery.

More than a quarter of tradespeople are cutting back on their alcohol consumption — that’s according to a survey from Tradesman Saver.
The stats from the Trade Wellbeing Report also highlighted that 18% of tradies were concerned about the long term impact drinking could have on their health.
The report also showed a greater awareness of work/life balance, with more respondents making the effort to get enough sleep, go on holidays and spend time on their hobbies.

St Albans and the City of London were found to be the most dangerous for outside workers, with both areas recording over 45 days a year where the temperature exceeded 27℃.
