CITB slashes support for several courses, tradespeople warned to check the fine print on tools cover, and EuroMillions winner, and former builder helps out local charity
The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has cut support for several popular training grants and courses.
The industry training body said the changes were necessary due to the success of its Employer Networks and New Entrant Support Team (NEST) schemes.
A statement from CITB said, “at current levels, demand for support will exceed its Levy income. Without action, CITB risks being unable to support any of these programmes.
CITB claimed that demand for its services had grown by 36% over the last four years, while the industry levy, which funds its activities, has remained the same.

Tradespeople need to check the fine print on their insurance documents to guarantee they have adequate cover for their tools.
Barry Marsh, from Trade Direct Insurance, warned many policies don’t provide cover if tools are left in the van overnight or apply restrictions on where a van can be parked.
Some policies even have clauses that affect coverage if a tradesperson is working away from home.
