AUDIO NEWS: Tradesman builds granny an extension for free and CITB limits Employer Networks spending

Builder offers to build free extension for grandmother, CITB changes which organisations can access Employer Networks and 54,000 plumbers haven't had an eye test!

Pinnacle Builders is giving a grandmother a free extension after she was ripped off by a rogue trader.

70-year-old Yvonne Elliot was devastated after a cowboy builder took £14,000 off her and failed to complete the work.

Graham Nash from Pinnacle then stepped in and offered to complete the work free of charge.

Nash had managed to raise £4,500 for the work through a GoFundMe page, before Travis Perkins offered to supply the rest of the building materials for free.

Only micro, small and medium sized businesses will be allowed to access CITB’s Employer Networks budget in the next financial year.

The training body has also limited the amount of money small firms can claim to £4,500 pounds, depending on their size.

Previously, the spending cap had been £15,000 and the fund was open to all organisations.

Over 54,000 plumbers haven’t had their eyes tested for over two years — that is according to a report from Specsavers!

Those working on the tools without regular eye tests risk not only injury to themselves but inadvertently making mistakes.

The high street retailer is encouraging employers to offer staff regular eye examinations, mirroring the proactive approach already taken in other parts of the workforce.
