AUDIO NEWS: 9% of tradespeople using AI for mental health support and a roofer wrongfully arrested

Nearly 10% of tradespeople use artificial intelligence for mental health support, landscaper left £30,000 out of pocket after thieves hit business, and a roofer wrongfully arrested in London

Tradespeople are more likely to use ChatGPT for mental health support than speak with their workmates.

The survey conducted by Vanaways found that just 7% of tradies would speak to colleagues about feelings of depression or anxiety.

Partners and close friends were found to be the biggest form of support.

In the poll of 2,000 people, over half said they lacked the confidence to discuss their mental health, while 22% admitted actively avoiding ‘opening up’ altogether.

A landscaper has lost up to £30,000 in tools and business after thieves raided his secure lockup and smashed up his van.

Jack Roberts said he was now feeling pressure to get the business back up and running because his two full time employees had mortgages to pay.

The 20-year-old tradesman has since relocated his business over fears that another theft would occur.

A roofer was arrested after facial recognition cameras wrongly identified him as a thief who had stolen £300 of bedding from IKEA.

Colin McMahon spent 24 hours in police custody and was formally charged before magistrates ruled that he was not the man seen on CCTV footage exiting the shop.

McMahon had been running an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting at the time of the theft.
