Over half of tradespeople are spending three to four hours a week creating and editing content for social media — that’s according to a poll from Markel Direct.
One in ten admitted it took a whole working day to manage their online presence.
The survey also highlighted mounting pressure to regularly create content, even though nearly two thirds of them have never had any social media training.
Having an active online presence also has its downsides, with nearly a quarter saying they had negative comments on their posts.

A contractor has been fined £17,000 after more than 150 bats attacked a tenant.
Work by City Building (Glasgow) to fit solar panels and external cladding blocked off the entrance to a bat roost within the roof of a property in Dumfriesshire.
While half of the bat colony died of starvation, the rest found their way into a tenant’s living room and bedroom. The victim was admitted to hospital with bite wounds.

And finally, a self-employed electrician has won gold at the Commonwealth Games, at the fifth attempt.
Sam Tolchard claimed first place in the men’s singles bowls competition, and paid immediate tribute to his late father.
The 37-year-old had won three bronzes and a silver at previous games.
