Less than 20% of young people think going to university is a good idea, Refuge partners with tradeswomen platform TaskHer and electrician nominated for community award
Almost half of young people see becoming a tradesperson as a quicker way to earn £100,000 than going to university, claims a study.
The poll of 2,000 adults under 28, just 19% thought opting for university instead of an apprenticeship was a good idea.
Nearly a third also said they were keen to avoid student debt.
In the survey by Draper Tools over half believed they would be able to buy a home quicker if they became a tradie, as opposed to going to university.
A third of respondents said they were keen to start earning money as soon as possible.

By working with TaskHer, the domestic abuse charity has reduced anxiety for residents who find the presence of male tradespeople distressing.
In the last year, TaskHer carried out various electrical, plumbing and re-decorating tasks.

An electrician in Scotland has been nominated for a community award after his response to two medical emergencies.
Kieran Docherty who works for Midlothian Council helped one tenant whose son had a seizure.
And on a separate occasion called 999 after a tenant became unresponsive.
Docherty said he was honoured to be put forward for the award.
