Four out of ten tradespeople will need their state pension to help fund their retirement — that’s according to research from Tradesman Saver.
Confidence in financial plans clearly dropped among older tradies, with just 30% of 45-to-54-year-olds claiming they felt positive about retirement.
The data also showed that nearly a third of respondents expected to work beyond state pension age, with 18% planning to graft until they were 70.
The figures were published amid reports that the rise in the state pension age could be brought forward.

The report indicates a quarter of eligible firms haven’t signed up with HMRC, and 22% still don’t know it is happening, even though the first filing deadline is weeks away.
