Earlier this year, Fix Radio embarked on a mission to find the best builder’s cafes, greasy spoons, snack wagons, and burger vans across the UK with Checkatrade.

Listeners were encouraged to nominate their favourite cafe for the chance for them to become the Cafe of the Week. Each Cafe crowned Cafe of the Week was then shortlisted for Cafe of the Year. 

After more than 10,000 votes in total, The Hungry Hossee crossed the finish line with less than 15 votes distance. The Hungry Hossee is located in Corby, Northamptonshire, and has been described as "the perfect cafe" and "a community hub" by regular Des Barber. It is also credited for its community work, including providing a soup kitchen for those in need.

Cafe owner, Shelaine Crabtree revealed her delight at the news on the Bald Builders Breakfast Show on Friday morning, declaring that she's "going to have to pop open a cork" in celebration.

To celebrate the award, Fix Radio broadcasted from the Hungry Hossee on Friday, December 6th, with The Bald Builders, Brad and Sam, delivering a special show from the much-loved (award-winning!) cafe.
