Chance Litchfield was in for Clive this week and he started off by asking what was the worst DIY disaster you had to deal with. We heard some right howlers from builder Danny Madden and carpenter Alex The Valley Viking. Then Chance focused on Kwasi Kwarteng's Mini Budget and the implications it would have on the industry. Rico Wojtulewicz, Head of housing and planning policy at the NFB and Jimmy Hendrie - master plumber, member of the Chartered Institute of Plumbers and Heating Engineers (CIPHE) and lecturer gave their thoughts on this. Then he looked at what is going wrong with the countries skills strategy. With a skills shortage of 250000 forecasted for 2026, how can small businesses and sole traders attract career switchers and apprentices. Chance spoke to Mark Miller who is a Chippy, Builder and TV personality, well known for work on DIY SOS and the current host of Channel 5’s Dream Kitchens and Bathrooms. He also spoke to Engagement Director at the CITB Deborah Madden all about this topic. And to finish off proceedings Chance asked what was the best lie you ever told to your boss. We had some excellent messages in and heard some great stories from Dave Finnegan from Elwood Enterprises and Dean Saxton from Saxton building solutions.
