A Lithuanian man who was struggling to give up alcohol and chose to suppress his cravings for it by swallowing screws, nails and other foreign objects, has had emergency surgery to remove it all. In total, a kilogram of screws, nuts and nails up to 10cm long were surgically removed from the man’s stomach, who arrived at hospital - unsurprisingly - in significant abdominal pain after eating the suff for over a month. As reported by LRT, the man chose not to disclose any information to doctors when he arrived in the ER, remaining silent however X-Rays taken at KUL hospital soon revealed “nails, bolts, nuts, knives, wood screws and other similar items were present.” Kilogram of nails, screws and knives removed from man's stomach https://t.co/ZnhQkip7Oi Speaking about the unusual patient, Surgeon Šarūnas Dailidėnas said, “that amount of these foreign bodies is unique. The operation was also performed because there was a clinical suspicion that all these foreign bodies had perforated or, in other words, pierced the stomach” He is expected to make a full recovery though is being monitored closely in hospital with physiological assistance being provided.
