Dramatic doorbell footage has captured the moment a man from Doncaster had to fight off 3 men who were attempting to barge into his home and allegedly steal his dogs. Ryan Hesford, a 33-year-old property manager, was left with a black eye and injuries to his arm as the scuffle spilled out in his front yard and over his neighbours fence. The incident occurred just before 9pm on Wednesday April 7, with the dog owner home alone as his partner was down in London on a business trip. Not expecting any visitors and after hearing persistent ringing and knocking, Mr Hesford answered the door with caution and after a brief exchange with one assailant, footage shows him suddenly getting jumped by another 2 men who attempt to punch him and drag him out of his home. Fighting back, the property manager manages to prevent two of the men, one with his face covered in a balaclava, from entering his home - holding them both off and pushing them into a vehicle. It was during this scuffle that a third man can be seen holding a metal bar and gaining access into the house, pacing in the hallways and frantically searching for the dogs they were after. It was during this time that one of Mr Hesford neighbours heard a commotion, running to his aid and causing the 3 thieves to flee the property on foot and down the road without taking his two Shih Tzu’s and Pomeranian. Speaking to Yorkshire Live, Ryan said "I could tell as soon as I opened the door that something wasn't right.” "He seemed really agitated on his feet, he was shifting from left to right.” "I attempted to slam the door on him as he came for me, but he and the other two pushed back and I've been left with a big black eye.” Police were called and arrived on the scene shortly after, with the investigation remaining ongoing.
